The Hakai site is located on the central coast of British Columbia within the 460-square-mile Hakai Lúxvbálís Conservancy Area. This steeply sloping site consists of extremely uneven terrain, containing many deep cracks and folds.

Hakai is dominated by consolidated bedrock, and the area surrounding the site is comprised of a mixture of consolidated bedrock and boulder fields. The primary coastal orientation of this site is west.
