Botanical Conservation

I have long been interested in conservation including plant discovery, floristics, biogeography, and contributing to efforts to preserve native species and habitats.  I have contributed to international conservation efforts in California, central Africa, Indochina, and Australia.  Much of my collaborative research has been in making field collections in support of building herbarium collections, and taxonomic and systematic studies.  My current interests and projects focus on building collections of rare and threatened plants for in situ conservation efforts, plant inventory activities, describing new taxa, contributing to regional floras, building global research programs, and collaborating with international scientists and bringing together the expertise within botanical gardens to address botanical conservation issues worldwide.
